Writing About Writing Institute

From August 3-5, 13 composition faculty participated in an institute led by Dr. Beth Carroll on the Writing About Writing Model developed by Liz Wardle and Douglas Downs  The institute, sponsored by Academic Affairs and Bedford/St. Martins Publishing, was linked to a longer summer institute led by Liz Wardle at the University of Central Florida.  Faculty discussed using readings from Rhetoric and Compositon theory and practice in introductory courses and adapting that approach to the Introduction to Writing Across the Curriculum course at Appalachian.  Participants will offer a workshop in early spring semester 2012.  If you have questions about this work or would like a desk copy of the Writing About Writing text, e-mail Georgia Rhoades at rhoadesgd@appstate.edu
